Professional Bio

Archana Singh is currently a PhD student in the Department of Geography at Pennsylvania State University. She is interested in understanding the spatialities of women’s leisure in Lucknow city, India. Particularly looking beyond the conventional understanding of leisure that is place and activity-centric and focuses on women’s everyday experiences of leisure, which are governed by multiple actors and various scales. She works with qualitative methods and sometimes uses GIS and statistical tools in her research.

Prior to joining Penn State, she worked as a project scientist at the Transport Research and Injury Prevention Centre, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. I have also previously worked at the National Council of Educational Training and Research, Government of India, Delhi.

Archana received her MPhil and aster’s degree in geography from the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in geography from Miranda House, University of Delhi, India.
