Professional Bio

Kelly Douma is a graduate student in the Departments of History and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at The Pennsylvania State University in their dual-title PhD program.  Douma's research focuses on gender, sexuality, and marriage in the German Moravian Church and their worldwide missions. Specifically, her dissertation will focus on Moravian women's experience of marriage - how it served the church, how it served as a tool for migration, and women themselves navigated their position as marital partners in the eighteenth century.
