Professional Bio

Born and raised in Iran, Arezou Darvishi began her exploration of the French language with a bachelor’s degree in French translation from Allameh Tabataba'i University in Iran. In 2022, she moved to the United States to pursue an MA in French at the University of Oregon. Her academic interests extend beyond language, encompassing the intersections of gender and religion in the Middle East and Francophone regions, with a focus on the role of state power. She is also intrigued by “postfeminist media culture” and “postfeminist subjectivity” and is currently researching the portrayal of the female body among fitness influencers on Instagram. Outside of her academic pursuits, Arezou enjoys working out, hiking, and bouldering. Recently, she has discovered a passion for painting, which adds an artistic dimension to her life.
