Professional Bio
Hazel Velasco Palacios is a graduate student of Rural Sociology and WGSS. Her research interests are found in the sociology of international agriculture and development, gender, labor, and migration. In the past, she has worked as a research assistant on projects examining the impacts of gender transformative development initiatives, collective action, and care work on rural livelihoods, communities, and the environment in Central America and the United States. As of now, Hazel is pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Rural Sociology and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality studies at Penn State.
