Celebrating Leadership and Legacy: Binney H. C. Wietlisbach Honored with WGSS AlumnX Award

On Wednesday, April 23, the Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies proudly recognized Binney H. C. Wietlisbach (Class of 1985, Psychology) with the department’s 2025 AlumnX Award, celebrating her extraordinary career, commitment to women’s empowerment, and contributions to community leadership.

Ms. Wietlisbach currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at The Haverford Trust Company, where she has made a lasting impact on the financial services industry since beginning her career in 1985. Her leadership at Haverford—where she previously served as President for over fifteen years—has been marked by innovation, mentorship, and a commitment to fostering inclusive spaces within the industry.

A highlight of her legacy is the founding of The Haverford Speaker Series for Women®, a pioneering program designed to educate, empower, and inspire women through conversations on finance, leadership, and personal development. This initiative reflects the very values at the heart of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies: advocacy, empowerment, and transformation.

The event brought together faculty, students, staff, and alumni to honor Wietlisbach’s achievements and reflect on the power of feminist leadership across disciplines. Her remarks offered insight into her journey, emphasizing the importance of confidence, courage, and community—principles that continue to shape her work and legacy.

We are proud to recognize Binney Wietlisbach as a distinguished alumna whose career exemplifies the transformative potential of feminist values in the professional world. Her work continues to open doors and elevate voices, inspiring future generations of students and leaders.
