Professional Bio
Wunpini Mohammed completed a Ph.D. in Mass Communications with a minor in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies and an African Studies concentration in 2020. Wunpini is currently an assistant professor of global media industries at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia. Her PhD dissertation project, which is the first ever scholarly work on the Dagbanli film industry in Northern Ghana, examined indigenous language film in Northern Ghana by parsing out the complexities of film production, distribution and reception. Her research which focuses on feminisms, broadcast media, development communication, and political economy of communication have appeared in the Radio Journal: International Studies in Broadcast & Audio Media, ADA: A Journal of Gender, New Media & Technology, and Communication: South African Journal for Communication Theory and Research.
